There and gone
Our most recent update to our home, which I am a little slow to post about, is that we ripped down a wall that was between our living room and kitchen. It made the rooms look smaller and kept a lot of the light out, which made both rooms seem much darker and smaller than they actually were.
So down it came.
We had to rip down sheetrock and cupboards, move our fridge, and pull down the wall.
We also had an electrician that Brett works with come and help us move the electrical so that it was no longer hanging down in the middle of the room.
Lastly we also built a frame around the entry to our kitchen/living room s
o as to separate the two rooms from each other without a full wall.
The end result so far... We like it.

New Paint
The weekend that Brett and I moved in, we decided that the purple was just too much to handle and so we went and bought some paint to change at least one wall. We spent a day or two ripping down some paneling that we didn't like and fixing holes in the wall.
Then we painted it. For most people the color is a little shocking, but we like it and think it will work our well with what we want for our home. Brett had fun writing a message before I took the picture.
This last Friday March 30th, my dad came down to pick me up from my way home from school and come to help me paint our house. We bought a couple gallons of paint and started working to get the front entry and room all painted. Dad was brave and did the entryway which has a very high ceiling; he had to stand on a latter and paint in the stairwell as I couldn't reach all the way to the top even on a latter.
We managed to get all of the front room and stairwell done as well as part of the hallway. We could have done more but between someplaces needing more sanding and mudding and needing food we just got done what we could.
Later after Dad had left and Brett came home, Brett and I finished the edges and corners, fixed our ceiling fan so it wasn't falling down and painted the last wall in the stairwell.
It is amazing what a little paint and mud can do to a house, it looks almost new now and makes us more exicted to get other things done.
New House
Last month Brett and I bought a house! It is beautiful, but it also needs a lot of work. When we moved in this last week we had lots of help from family which was muchly appreciated. There are several things wrong with the place at least seven of which we have to have fixed within 90 days by a contractor and then have inspected to make sure it is all fixed and up to standards. Most of it is just some small problems like a leaking roof, an unsafe railing on the porch and deck, and a few holes in the sheetrock throughout the house.
However, by our standards a few other things are in need of a quick fix. Mainly the amount of mini holes scattered throughout the house and the paint job. Afterall a purple front room isn't exactly what we were hoping for. We also have plans to re-do the kitchen, finish the basement and rip down a wall. We will be posting updates as we get things done.
